I don't see any mention of creating a custom template page. I could see uses of for a custom template page on blog pages with specific categories. For example the search template would be redundant on a blog page that has a category of "Sermons". You would only need maybe the title of individual sermons in the series that are linked to play the audio / video. Having this in a short code would be good.

So if I had a blog page that always displayed the latest sermon, I'd like to use a short code like this. In this scenario, I have a blog category called "sermons" and have my blog page to show the latest entry. The idea is to match the latest blog with the latest sermon

Something like:
