Hey gang!
I've got a weird one. The podcast has been up and running for a while over at http://trinityparkchurch.org/r.....?podcast , and all of a sudden iOS users can't get the feed to work.
They get a "temporarily unavailable" error.
If they go in and delete the download and redownload, it works fine. But that's a pain.
Methinks it's a bug within podcasts.app on iOS, but why is our podcast the only one that seems to be affected? Other churches (Village Church in TX, Mars Hill in Seattle to name two) feeds are working just fine.
I don't have an iOS device, but most of my congregation does, so it's tough for me to test and/or fix, as it works great on Android and desktops/iTunes.

Here's some clarification: (got ahold of an iPhone and iPad to test on)
THe app (podcasts.app) will play the file if I stream it. If I let the file download all the way and then try to play it I get a "temporarily unavailable" warning. If I then delete the file ("remove download") and play it again, it'll play. If I start playing it while it's downloading, it'll play. but once it finishes, it will not play the file.
Again, this only happens on the iPhone and iPad.

Could it have something to do with the redirect you talk about here, Ben Miller? I haven't tested it, but I think that around the time I moved to an S3 bucket for storage is when this started happening.

Ben Meredith, are you doing the fancy DNS map to S3 stuff that was discussed on this ChurchMag article?
If so, try this: Instead of using the pretty "podcast.trinityparkchurch.org" URL to attach the MP3 file to your sermon, create a new sermon and use the ugly "s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com" URL. Then see if you have more luck with that sermon on iPhone/iPad/iPod.

That seems to have fixed it, greater Ben. I hate that it means I am stuck with ugly s3 urls, but far better to actually have working files.

Well, scratch that. It appears that the podcast is still not working correctly, even with the ugly s3 urls.
I am out of ideas. It's got to be something in the s3 bucket sharing or something. Or just a bug in apples podcasts app.
Help?

We are having the exact same issue with ours and the podcast.app. We are not using S3 though. We are just uploading them to our site via Sermon Browser. Is there more stuff Apple wants in the meta? I have not yet had the people who have issues redownload the files. But that just seems like an unlikely solution for our users.
Is there any fix or solution for this. Our files are just MP3s so they should work.

I'm having the same problems. I tested it als on a few other Sermon Browser websites. On all website's I have the same as Ben Meredith described:
THe app (podcasts.app) will play the file if I stream it. If I let the file download all the way and then try to play it I get a "temporarily unavailable" warning. If I then delete the file ("remove download") and play it again, it'll play. If I start playing it while it's downloading, it'll play. but once it finishes, it will not play the file.
Anyone an idea how to solve? Do other people have problems with it? I only tested it on an iPhone with ios 7.1 and podcast 2.0.2.
