Just upgraded to WP 3.6 and so far so good.  I haven't added any new sermons yet, but the existing ones seem to be fine.

Just upgraded to WP 3.6 and added a sermon.  No noticeable change. So far so good.

I have had an issue. It appears that for me the combination of the Audio Player plugin and the built in audio/video with 3.6, is causing my Media uploads to hang. The upload is happening, but it never appears in my Media page, i only know that it is there by checking the server. I determined this by deactivating audio player, uploading, checking, etc. It is definitely Audio Player. The shortcode option on the options page has me confused. is there a way not to use a shortcode there? thanks.

without Audio Player i have nothing for the user to click on to listen.

cmnabors_admin,

Please help me understand the trouble you are having.

1. Is this your site?  Your Audio Players do not appear to be working at all (File Not Found error).

2. Under Sermons, Options, what do you currently have for the MP3 shortcode setting?  When copying this into the forum, please remove the square bracket characters [ ] on either side of the code.

3. To use the built-in WordPress 3.6 player, deactivate your Audio Player plugin, then make sure that your Sermons, Options, MP3 shortcode setting is set to this:

(left-square-bracket)audio mp3="%SERMONURL%"(right-square-bracket)

yes that is my site. after doing your #3 suggestion, it partially fixed the problem. I still have the problem of Media upload hanging in the "crunching..." state, never returning to indicate that it had successfully finished. It was added but never shows up on the Media page. But now I do have an icon for the user to click on to listen. :-)

cmnabors_admin,

For your Media Uploading problem, is this something you had a problem with for a while (before updating to WordPress 3.6), or is it something you've noticed just in the last few days?

cmnabors_admin, did you update a bunch of plugins at the same time that you updated WordPress?

Please call me Carroll...:-)

When I began trying to figure out my problem, I deactivated all my plugins. the first one on my list to reactivate was Audio Player. No problem with Media Upload. When I reactivate Sermon Browser, the Upload happens, but the file never appears in my Media page. this was not a problem prior to the most recent SB upgrade. thanks for all you efforts to help me, and sorry I am a little fuzzy on some of the terminology.

Peace,

Carroll

Carroll, good news! (Sort of...)

I was able to replicate the problem on my test server, and I see what the problem is.  You are right, Sermon Browser is indeed the cause of your uploading problems.

Sermon Browser has a library included called getid3.  We use this so that Sermon Browser can read the ID3 tags from your MP3 files and automatically fill in the sermon title, preacher name, and whatever else you have selected to grab from the Sermons, Options screen.  However, WordPress 3.6 has also added this library, and they are interfering.

For anyone else that is reading, we are talking about the built-in WordPress media upload feature (at Media, Add New), not the Sermon Browser upload feature.  (The Sermon Browser upload feature is just as buggy as it always has been.)  :)

I plan on correcting this in the next version of Sermon Browser as soon as possible.  (My plan is to have SB check to see which version of WordPress you are using, then either include the getid3 library or use WordPress's copy.)

Until then, the workaround would be to deactivate Sermon Browser before you upload an MP3 file using the WordPress Media Uploader, then reactivating Sermon Browser after your MP3 file has been added to the WordPress Media Library.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

I've been curiously watching this discussion and thought I'd offer one more workaround.  I have never been able to use the SB upload feature due to my web host's limit on file size uploads; our sermons' file sizes are just too big.  Instead, we just manually upload the files via FTP and then use the Files --> Unlinked Files section to create new sermons.  That still reads in the ID3 tags fairly well, but I do always double-check before posting.

My two cents, anyway. smile

Phil,

Indeed, using FTP to upload your MP3 files for Sermon Browser still works great.  :)   Thanks for the reminder.

Eastgatepres,

Can you tell us more about the trouble you are having?  What method are you using to try to upload your files?  Would you provide a link to your website?

Ben, it is the samething that Carroll is going through with the sermon browser.  I can't afford to keep the sermon browser off because it the main way that people can listen to the sermons. Wordpress uploader and the website is http://www.Eastgatepressermons.com

P.s I have the sermons browser turned off right now so I can upload my audio and video files

Eastgatepres, I understand.  Thanks for letting me know.  I'm trying to figure out a fix now.

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that you deactivate Sermon Browser altogether, just that if you want to upload an MP3 file using the WordPress Media Uploader, you deactivate Sermon Browser while it uploads.  It's inconvenient, but Sermon Browser would only be deactivated for a few minutes (or however long it takes to upload your file).

A quick update: I've got a fix for the WordPress 3.6 Media Uploader bug.  It's a bit complicated to document all the code changes for the fix on the forum, but I hope to have Sermon Browser 0.45.11 released in the next day or two.
