WordPress 3.3.1 issues?

I'm new to both WordPress and Sermon Browser and have a couple of issues that don't seem to have been covered in the FAQ or Forum. I am wondering if they are related to the version of WordPress we are using – WordPress 3.3.1.

Issue 1. Attaching an mp3 file to the sermon. I have entered 3 sermons and attached to the relevant mp3 file. However, after clicking 'Save' I am stuck on a blank screen for ages. Clicking back to 'Sermons' shows that the files are all there and that they are attached to the mp3 files, however trying to get them to play from the display screen is showing "File not found". Check out http://salisburybaptist.org.au/media/.

Issue 2. I tried to delete and reenter a sermon to see if I could overcome the previous issue, but now I have two entries in the Sermons file for the same sermon, although only one shows on the website. How can I fix this? confused

Update – I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plug-in and reentered the sermon information (thankfully there are not many as yet). When saving a sermon I have discovered I need to wait for the save to complete properly – I was clicking elsewhere before the saved results displayed because it was taking so long and I thought it wasn't working properly. Waiting for the save to complete however takes a very long time – up to 5 minutes. Is this normal?

Reentering the information got rid of the double entry for one sermon, but I'm still getting Series and Service Times which I haven't entered popping up in the dropdown list. How do I get rid of these?

Merylmccay;

Good morning… On your first issue, if you are uploading the sermon from the enter new sermon page itself, it could take up to 5 minutes or even more, and here is why. 1) The mp3 file(s) that you are uploading can be quite large in size depending on the length of the sermon and how it was recorded. 2) Upload files for any situation when related to the Internet is always slower. Internet providers make there download speeds very fast because that is what people do most of the time on the Internet, download, not upload. Bandwidth is expensive to operate as well as taxing the servers and networks switches, they upload speeds are about 1/4 (give or take) of what your download speed is. 3) Depending on what you are using for bandwidth at home anywhere from dial-up over a phone line, to DSL, to wireless, to hooked into a cable modem can determine your overall speeds as well. So you will just have to be a little patient :o)

One thing you can do to help, it is use a free ftp program like Filezilla (check with your provider and most tell you how to setup it up to access your account on their servers) and upload all your sermons at once to the folder in wordpress (if you followed the default directions, should be /wp-content/uploads/sermons, if it is different, you will have to find out where you have been uploading them). What this will do is allow you to upload files in bulk. Once this is done, you will notice under the sermons interface menu a link that says files, and all those files you just uploaded will show as unlinked files, and that is okay. Now go to you new sermon page, fill in the details and then at the bottom, choose existing file and then in the next drop down box chose the file you just uploaded with your ftp program. Does this make sense?

As far as your file getting the service times and such, it may be due to the id3 tags on the mp3 file itself. Check with the person who creates the mp3 and they would be able to tell you. Sorry for so much information and I hope some it helps. Please keep as posted :o)

Blessings…
