The time on my RSS feed for sermon publication is not currently correct. I presume this is actually a time-zone issue – is there anyway of rectifying this?

In the dashboard screen, open Settings – General.
There is a UTC setting that might be the source of your problem.

I think I am having a related problem.

I have the Wordpress timezone set to my local timezone.  I'll omit any consideration of day light saving here.   However, my Wordpress host server uses UTC as local time.  I can not changes this.  My RSS feed typically reports times with twice the timezone offset from UTC.  There would be no problem if the timezone of the Wordpress host server was local time.

On investigation, I think the problem is that sermon browser times are stored in the database without timezone information.  When a time is entered in the sermon browser plugin, I assumed that this was local time.  However, the RSS feed expects a timezone field and in my case is populated with +0000.  This results in the RSS feed reporting a time at UTC instead of localtime.  When the time arrives in the web browser (or podcast software), local timezone adjustment is also made, which results in two lots of timezone adjustments.

There are two possible short term solutions that I can think of. (I have chosen the first of these solutions)

1. in the podcast.php file, change the string: 'D, d M Y H:i:s O' to 'D, d M Y H:i:s +1000' where +1000 is my localtime offset.  This appears in two places in this file.

2. (untested)  Set the Wordpress timezone to UTC and operate the whole Wordpress site using UTC times.

A long term solution might be to use a different field type in the database for storing Sermon Browser timestamps.
