I have sermon files with names in the following format:

YYYY-MM-DD_nn.mp3 where nn is a sequence number for the date>

ie  2011-10-21_02.mp3  This corresponds to the 2 item recorded 10/21/11

The extracted date is:  2017-07-02

If anyone can tell me what function preforms this task I could look at fixing the problem.

Do you have a site example to look at please.

Also, do you use the last set of numbers in your sequence due to multiple teachings or sermons that day? If so, have you tried making it a series and then using the shortcode for series=? Just some thoughts.

Blessings…

The problem occurs when I do a "create sermon" from the files listing.  My file names are (for example):

2012-02-01_01.mp3

2012-01-29_03.mp3

2012-01-29_01.mp3….  etc.

I have to manually select the correct date from the calendar popup.  All other info (Title, preacher, series) is correctly extracted from the MP3 tags.

The date is correctly extracted if I change the file name to 2012-02-01-01.mp3 (which I did for a test.  It is not practical to rename all of our sermon files).

Thanks,

Steve

There is a javascript in the following location (at least the plugin default install)

wp-content/plugins/sermon-browser/sb-includes/datepicker.js

I do not really know coding, but it would make logical sense that this may have something to do with it.

I will do my best to keep digging around to see if I can help figure it out :o)

Blessings…

Update: I have renamed one of my current mp3 files to using your date and time format and the date shows up fine on my site. I am not sure if you are using the sermonbrowser templating system, any other plugins that may be causing the problem or what. If you want to see my example of how it turned out, you can visit the link below which I will leave up for a few days as the site is live but no one really knows of this section of the sermons yet.

Click on the one that says test. Not sure where else to go from here, but hopefully we'll get you straightened up soon :o)

Grace & peace…

Shawn,

I uploaded a new file.

Here's a screen shot of what I used.  I clicked "Create Sermon" for the file 2012-01-29_05.mp3

Here's the next screen that was displayed.

As you can see, the date calculated by Sermon Browser is 2019-12-14.

Steve;

How are these files being created? I know they are in  an MP3 format, but is someone adding tags to them at creation time? It almost looks as if there is something in the ID tagging of the file that is being seen by the plugin. Can you please check into that and get back to us?

Thank you, and blessings on your day!!!

Grace & peace…

We have a recording program the records directly to MP3 format.  The person doing the recording enters all the message information and the program adds the MP3 tags. We have never had a problem with any other program/player etc. reading these tags.

As you can see from the second screen shot, Sermon Browser properly reads the tags to extract Title, Preacher (Author), Series.  I don't think the tags are causing the problem because if I simply rename the file to "2012-01-29-05.mp3" the date is correctly displayed.
