I have just moved my wordpress 2.9 website with the excellent sermon browser plugin to a new host, imported the mysql db and everything on my website works except my sermons.
I have uploaded all my mp3 files to the same folders they were on my previous host. I have ensured that the wp-config.php file has the following table prefix:
$table_prefix = 'wp_';
There are about 329 sermons on my website but non are displayed on the new host.
You can access the new host website here:
[url="http://www.bethanybaptist.co.uk/media/sermons"]
Any ideas anyone???

I have moved a number of WordPress websites from one host to another since posting this and all have been smooth but sermon browser just wont work when i transfer my site!!!
I am really worried as I have to move my site ASAP to my new host and have 350 sermons in sermon browser!
I have moved the WordPress site successfully and all other plugins are fully functional on a temp address except sermon browser! The sermons page just shows 0 sermons but when I login to the wp-admin and click into the sermon browser plugin section all my sermons are there???

The temp site address is:
http://79.170.44.113/bethanyba…..ist.co.uk/
You will get a 404 error if you try togo straight to the above address though, as this site is not live you will need to add the following lines to your windows hosts file to view it correctly in your browser (DNS bypass trick):

79.170.44.113 http://www.bethanybaptist.co.uk
79.170.44.113 bethanybaptist.co.uk

"Leave out the http://" this post automatically inserted it.

If you dont know how to edit your windows hosts file:
- click start and right-click on Notepad — click run as administrator
- click file/open and browse to C:WindowsSystem32driversetc
- select file types = ALL

Then you will be able to browse to http://www.bethanybaptist.co.uk and view the moved site where sermon browser does not work.

Any ideas Mark?

Kind Regards
Justin

Justin,
I edited my hosts file and looked at your new site.

The sermons are there, they are just not showing up in the search results page. If you try to look at an individual sermon, it is there. For example:
http://www.bethanybaptist.co.u…..rmon_id=96
This brings up the sermon page for a sermon called "A Week that Changed the World Forever" on both your old server and your new server. I've seen this problem before. Here is one recent topic about it:
http://www.4-14.org.uk/forum/s…..isappeared

Fortunately, for some reason this problem seems to go away by itself after a day or so. So it is possible that once you switch over completely, that it will magically start working again.

Moving a site from one location to another is very tricky. I've often had trouble with it.

There is a premium WordPress plugin called Backup Buddy that is supposed to make it very easy to migrate your site from one location to another. I've never tried it myself, but if I had to move a WordPress site, I would try it. If you do try it, please let me know if it works or not.

Hi Rich

Yeah, hit a brick wall on this one a while back but need to persevere and move the site once and for all!

I have made the DNS changes to make the site live last night (as Ben Miller advised) and will wait for a few days and see what happens.

Thanks
Justin

Hi Guys

Just letting you know that it has been a week now and my site still shows no sermons on the sermon page.

Any more ideas?

Mark, would be good to get some input here if possible please?

I have moved 2 other wordpress sites from my old hosting company to my new one since my last post and they both moved very smoothly – but then they didnt have the Sermon Browser plugin!

Any help greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks
Justin

I may have asked you this already (the last time you tried this) but when you look at your database, do you see one instance of the Sermon Browser tables or more than one? If so, is the prefix WP or it something else?

Should look something like this:

wp_sb_books_sermons
wp_sb_preachers
wp_sb_series
wp_sb_sermons_tags
wp_sb_services

Hi Rich

I have just 1 set of tables and they look like that.
I have opened both databases in phpmyadmin (old host v new host) in 2 seperate windows and compared them side-by-side and they both look identical.
Am really stumped by this one.
I have moved quite a few wordpress and joomla websites from my old host to my new one now and once you know the proper process it's not too hard but this is the only site that wont work and the only part that wont work is Sermon Browser.

Have you a direct line of contact with Mark Barnes (the author)?
I really dont know what else to do here???

Thanks for your help so far.

Kind Regards
Justin

Justiin, no I do not have any way to get in touch with Mark. One other question, though: are you running SuperCache or any other caching software on the new server?

ok, worked this one out (sort of)

It down to the sermonbrowser_options in the wp_options
table.

To fix my install I did the following
1) did an export of all SB tables
2) uninstalled SB (not deleting files)
3) reinstalled
4) imported my data back in
5) copyed the contence of sermonbrowser_options from another working install.

this does not explain why is happend but it worked for me.
