Hi Ben,

sorry for not replying - been on holiday for a few days.

Followed your instructions and it seems to have resolved the issue! However all the sermons seem to have lost their book references if that book had a different spelling! Am I going to have to redo them all?

Thanks for all your help,

Emyr.

Emyr,

Unfortunately, yes.  You'll need to edit your sermons and choose the Bible book again.  I know that you have a lot of sermons, so that will take some time.  Because of the bugs in previous versions, your sermons got entered into the database with books in Welsh.  Any new sermons that you add (actually, any new sermons that you have added since probably June or so) already have the English names in the database.

If you can't remember which book to choose for a particular sermon, you can use Database browser to see what is in there now.  Go to Tools, Database Browser.  Choose the table ending in "sb_sermons".  The "start" and "end" column show the beginning and ending reference for the Bible passage.  If you see the name in Welsh, that sermon will need to be edited and the Bible books selected again.

I know that many of your sermons are titled with the Bible passage, so that will help.  Just to be clear: your sermon title can be in Welsh; that is not a problem.  But the names of the books in the "start" and "end" columns should be in English.

If you have any questions, let me know.

I'll be issuing an update to Sermon Browser shortly that will ensure that anyone installing the plugin now will get the correct names in the "sb_books" table, but that won't help anyone that has installed before.  I'm thinking about issuing an update that will correct the "sb_books" table for everyone, but that update isn't ready yet.

Emyr, I'm also thinking about issuing an update that will correct the sermon passages automatically for churches in your situation, so if you are dreading editing all of those sermons, you could wait to see if that happens.  But I don't know right now when that will be.

Emyr, there is one more fix that needs to be put in to make your site work correctly.  Currently, when you click on a link for a Bible book, it is supposed to show you the sermons about that book.  The book name in the URL needs to be in English, but in the current version of Sermon Browser this link is in the translated language.  This fix will be in the next version of Sermon Browser, but you can try this out on your site before then, if you like.  Otherwise, just wait until the next version is released.

The changes are in frontend.php, function sb_tidy_reference.  On line 377, you'll see the following lines:

http://pastebin.com/ggse9weT

Replace those two lines with the following:

Let me know if you have any questions.
