Hi,

I've updated to 0.45.5 and noticed that not all my Bible books are showing in the drop down menu in the backend when adding a sermon. Plus do I have to custom changed the following text on the front end: (Part of the Geneza series), Preached by, on 13. Januar, 2013 ... ? How do I do that? I translated the old language file with Poedit.

I would also like to get rid of the following: Subscribe option and the number of sermons. How do I go about that?

My website is in maintenance mode, so if anyone interested I can create another admin account.

kalvarija.si

Thank you.

Matej

Matej,

You get rid of the subscribe box and the number of sermons by editing your Sermon Browser template.  In the admin panel, go to Sermons, Templates.  On this screen, the first box, labeled "Search results page," is the template that controls what appears on your main sermon page when it shows a listing of your sermons.  Delete the following lines in that box to completely remove the Subscribe box:

http://pastebin.com/6hE1MF8W

(Click on the above link to see the code.)

To get rid of the number of sermons, look for the following line in your Search results template:

http://pastebin.com/U4eQVguW

You can remove "([sermon_count])" to get rid of the number, but keep the "Sermons" title visible on the page.  Remove the entire line to get rid of the whole line on your page.

I won't be able to help you with your translation problem without seeing your admin screen.  If you would like to create an admin account for me, you can send me my username and password in a Private Message to me, and I'll take a look.  Don't post it on the public forum!

Matej,

I've taken a look at your site.  I've grabbed the sermon-browser-sl_SI.po and .mo files from your site, and when I installed them in my test site, the Bible books showed correctly in the admin drop down box.  So the problem is not your translation files.

I think the problem is in your database.  Sermon Browser stores the books of the Bible in a database table, but I've never understood why.  :)   I'm going to look into this tonight and do some more testing.

To answer your question from above, some of the English text you see on the front end is in the Sermon Browser template (Sermons, Templates).  You'll need to translate that manually in the template.

Matej,

May I include your Slovene language files in the next version of Sermon Browser?

Matej,

I fixed it on your site.  :)   I'll try to get this fix in the next version of Sermon Browser.

For anyone who is curious, here is the fix:

admin.php, function sb_new_sermon:

OLD line (this grabs an array of Bible names from the database, which might not be in English):

http://pastebin.com/UCmxnqUG

NEW line (this grabs the Bible names from a list in sermon.php, which will always be in English, allowing translation files to work correctly):

http://pastebin.com/e5qGkd3X

Sure, it would be my pleasure. Can you just send me the latest english .po file before release to check if there are any changes made to the original english file. Plus I'd like to have a friend of mine who is professional translator go through my translation before the final version.

Thank you again for all your work.

God bless you.

Matej,

Thank you.  The latest .po template is included with SB version 0.45.5 and is named "sermon-browser.po".  You can grab it here:

https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/sermon-browser/trunk/sb-includes/sermon-browser.po

Let me know if you have any questions.

This is the fix, but you should first make sure you have the latest version 0.45.6 and if it is still not working use the fix above.

Christian, you've already got 0.45.6, so you've already got the fix that I wrote earlier in this thread.  There is something else going on on your site.

First, a question for you.  For Psalms and Philemon, what are the German names for those books?  Are they the same names as English?

I think that what is going on is that the bible passages are stored in your database in German instead of English.  In order for the translation to work correctly, all the Bible names need to be stored in the database in English.  This is due to bugs that were in Sermon Browser before the current version.

Try this: Edit your most recent sermon (Begründete Hoffnungsperspektiven).  In the "Bible passages" (Bibelstelle) section, pick your Bible passage again (1. Korinther 3:11) in both the From (von) and To (bis) fields.  Then hit the Save (Speichern) button.

After you do that, post back here so I can take another look.

Hi Ben,

thanks for your help. Yes, the books are stored is german in the database.

I changed some books to english and they were displayed now.

Do you have a complete list with all english books?

Many thanks for your support :-)

Greeting from Germany!

You can find the English (and German) names of all the books by looking at the "sermon-browser-de_DE.po" file, inside the sb-includes folder.

Can anyone help me?

I have been given the job of trying to sort out our church's website and I'm slightly clueless. I've managed to add sermon browser and upload the sermons, but being a welsh church we really want the search options and results to be in Welsh. I have managed to get hold of a translation in the form of .po and .mo files, however because I'm running wordpress in english I'm not sure how to get it to give priority to the welsh language sermone browser files as opposed to the default english.

Any ideas? I can send you the welsh translation if you like. Our website is http://www.newydd.cwmpawd.org

Many thanks,

Emyr James.

Emyr James,

I can't think of a way to do this, but I've got a question about it posted to WordPress Answers.  I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I am wondering, though: If your whole website is in Welsh, why are you running WordPress in English?  Why not just switch your WordPress installation to Welsh?

Emyr James,

I have a couple of questions for you.

1. In your "config.php" file in the main WordPress folder, you should see a line that looks like this:

define('WPLANG', '');

Does the line in your "config.php" file look exactly like the example I showed, with an empty second parameter, or is there something in the second parameter after 'WPLANG'?

2. What are the filenames of your .po/.mo Welsh language files?

Thanks for the response Ben,

1. Assuming I'm looking in the correct folder at present it reads

define ('WPLANG', '');

2. The file names are

sermon-browser-cy.mo

sermon-browser-cy.po

Unbelievably, I took a stab at what I was meant to do, added 'cy' after WPLANG and now it works!! You'll make a programmer of me yet!!!

Thanks for showing me the location. I'll be in touch again with another issue soon enough I'm sure!

Great!  I'm glad you got it working.  Just to explain, the WPLANG parameter in the config.php file defines what language (or locale) your site is in.  By changing it to "cy" you've switched your site to Welsh, and Sermon Browser will start using the Welsh language files.  If you don't have any Welsh language files for anything else in WordPress, it will remain in English, so you'll still see English in the WordPress Admin panel for everything that is not related to Sermon Browser.

When the Sermon Browser plugin gets updated, you'll lose your Welsh language files, and you'll need to copy them in to the "sb-includes" folder again.  Where did you get the language files?  Would you mind if we include them in a future version of Sermon Browser?  That way, you won't have to worry about copying them after you update.

Ok, another problem!

In the drop-down options to sort the sermons, they all work fine except for the 'book' option. I'm assuming it's a language fault at it displays every book that is the same in English and Welsh, but not the ones where the Welsh spelling is different.

Any ideas?
