We are having trouble with getting the podcast to play on the iPhone and iPod. The podcast will download to the devices but it will not play. A couple updates ago Apple created the podcast app. When a new podcast comes out the devices find the new sermon and will download it to the device. When trying to play the podcast it simply goes to another screen that list the title of the podcast, the date added, the duration and size with the word downloaded to the right of that. Then it list in blue 'mark as unplayed' followed by the description of the sermon.
I have searched on this forum for an answer on why the podcasts are not playing on the iPhone and iPod, but am not having any luck on finding a post to assist me. I am using the Jetpack for Wordpress audio player on the website, as the 'audio player' was causing problems with the iPad playing back the sermon via safari browser.
Would appreciate some solution as to why this is happening on these type of devices. Podcasts download and play fine on itunes on the pc and via the sermons page on our website. RSS feeds work find on pc also.

I have an iPod Touch, and I'm trying to understand the problem that you are describing, but I'm not sure I quite understand.
First, when I go to the link above on my iPod, I see that you have some sort of mobile theme that is kicking in. Since you are using Jetpack, it is probably the mobile theme feature that is included in Jetpack. This mobile theme completely hides your Sermons page. I'm not an expert in Jetpack, but it looks like there are two options you have to fix this. First, you could completely disable the mobile theme feature inside Jetpack, if you don't want the feature. If you do want this feature, it looks to me like you are able to configure it to display either excerpts of pages or the full page. Perhaps it is only showing you an excerpt. Try going to Jetpack on your Dashboard, then click the Configure button on Mobile Theme. See if there is a setting in there that will make the Sermons page work correctly.
I don't know if that is related to the problem you are seeing or not, but it looks like something that needs to be fixed.
I see that you are talking about Apple's Podcast App. I've never used the app. (It is not currently installed on my iPod.) I found it in the App Store, and it looks like everyone is rating the app with 1 star and saying that it doesn't work. Perhaps the trouble you are having is related to the app being broken.

I have experienced this too.
I have loaded word press on a test machine and loaded sermon browser.
I used ipad loaded with the app mentioned above and too am not able to play back the podcast.
the app appears to be the issue. I cant wait for this to be repaired.

Ben, I see the problem with the sermon page displaying incorrectly with the theme that I am using. I have worked with this and if I change the theme to other themes the sermon page will come back. So that problem is not related to 'Sermon Browser' I simply can't use that theme and have the sermon page display correctly on mobile devices. It was not a setting in Jetpack but was in the theme and disabling it did not help. I have reported bug to that theme writer. If he doesn't fix it then I will have to chose another theme to use. Any suggestions or recommendations?
Here is the problem with downloading the podcast to an ipod/iphone. The device will find the podcast from iTunes, after the device finds the new podcast there is a down arrow beside a white arrow that is in a blue circle. If you select over the name of the podcast it will use Quicktime to play the podcast. If you select the down arrow a circle comes up and the podcast is being downloaded to your device. If you select the arrow in the blue circle now you get another screen that says it is downloaded. You can mark it as unplayed and go back a screen and try to play and nothing. It is at this point that you can no longer listen to the podcast on the device with or without internet. Once you select the down arrow and download it to the device the podcast is of no value to you on the device.
I have a user that downloads podcasts from Dave Ramsey's radio show and Day by Day Ministries and after you select the down arrow and download them to the ipod you can then listen to them without internet connection. I have a user that drives semi at night and he uses these podcasts rather than the local radio stations.
