OfflineHello,
First, I love Sermon Browser!
Now, I have set up my sermons page to the way that I want and installed the "Most Popular" widget in the sidebar on that page. However, I noticed that it is not counting the hits or downloads of my sermons?? – I looked in phpmyadmin and noticed that there is also a field for 'duration' in the #_sp_stuff table. Both the 'count' and the 'duration' fields are empty for all my sermons.
Can you help me with this?
Perhaps the problem is that I have not put the site on a live server yet and only have it on my local machine?
Thanks,
Andy -

OfflineAndy, a few questions for you:
When you add your sermons, how are you uploading the audio files? FTP or Sermon Browser admin pages?
At the bottom of your Edit Sermon pages, under Attachments: Do you see "Choose an existing file" or "Enter an URL"?

OfflineAndy,
Here's where I'm going with this: There are two main ways that Sermon Browser links to an audio file:
1. If you go to edit one of your existing sermons and under the "Attachments" area, you see "Choose an existing file" selected, this means that your .mp3 file is located in the default folder for audio files (usually /wp-content/uploads/sermons/).
2. If instead under the "Attachments" area you see "Enter an URL" selected, this means your .mp3 file is somewhere else.
With option #1, Sermon Browser knows exactly where your audio file is, and can examine the file to get the duration. Sermon Browser serves out the file itself when requested.
With option #2, Sermon Browser doesn't make any assumptions about where the file is or whether it has access to the file or not. It simply points to the URL. The audio file doesn't even need to be located on the same server as your WordPress installation.
My theory right now (and this is just a guess) is that Sermon Browser can't count the number of downloads for any sermon that is linked with Option #2. So if your sermons are linked in this way, the Most Popular sermon function won't work.
I always use option #1 for our sermons, and I don't use the Most Popular sermon widget, so this is just a guess. Does anyone else know any more about this?

OfflineHow many sermons do you currently have on your site?
When you view the list of sermons in the WordPress control panel (Sermons, Sermons) do any of them have any values in the "Stats" column?

OfflineYou said that you are currently running WordPress on a local machine. I don't know the details of how these stats are generated, but it's possible that it doesn't count any requests that come from the same machine that WordPress is running on. Is it possible with your setup to use another computer to visit your test site and listen to the sermon?

OfflineLooking at my database, from what I can tell, any entry in the _sb_stuff table that has "file" in the type field should have a populated duration field (these would represent my Option #1 described above). Any entries that have "url" in the type field should have a blank duration field.
Do you have any "file" type entries in your _sb_stuff table that do not have a duration?

Offlineyep, all but one of my entries is a "file" type (one is a "url"), and none of them have any value for duration.
I also checked, and all my "files" are stored at wp-content/uploads/sermons/
if I click on any of the mp3 file in my Windows explorer it will tell me the duration – so I know the info is there its just not getting read.

OfflineAs far as I know, the only place that the duration is used is in the podcast feed: The duration is reported in the podcast feed so that you can see the duration in iTunes before you download the .mp3 file. I don't know why your Sermon Browser didn't find those yet.
