I am currently considering using sermon browser for our church website.

I have uploaded and activated the sermon browser plugin. I have also uploaded a sermon file using ftp. The file is listed under the following directory: /public_html/wp-content/uploads/sermons/9_27_2009.mp3 , but the plugin won't read the file.

I have done this several times and to no avail. Please advise.

p.s. The sermons folder and the uploads folder permissions are set to 777

Under Sermons > Options > Basic Options, what is your "Upload folder" set to?

Try setting it to:
/wp-content/uploads/sermons/

There's a bug in Wordpress that causes problems on brand new Wordpress installs. Basically, if you've never clicked 'save changes' on the Wordpress Settings/Miscellaneous page, or never uploaded a file into Wordpress, then Wordpress tells SermonBrowser the wrong information about where your uploads folder is. So try doing one of those two things, then upload the file again.

I've fixed this in 0.43.2 – you might need to reset your SermonBrowser options to their default if you can't get it working.
