Browser page not showing link to listen to sermon!

I just got SermonBrowser installed and have added 8 sermons. You can see the page here: http://96.0.148.145/blog/sermons/
(the site is currently in development and I'm trying to get this problem resolved before we transfer over the real domain name).

I'm thrilled with the ease with which I can add sermons to our own page, however, I thought there would be a way for people to listen to the sermons from this page.

What am I doing wrong?

Tracy,
I've taken a look at your site. First, it looks like you don't have the WordPress Audio Player plugin installed. This is the recommended plugin for playing the sermons on your site; Sermon Browser is designed to work with it. You can find it here:
http://wordpress.org/extend/pl…..io-player/

Next, I see that you've added several sermons, but it doesn't look like there are any audio files attached to the sermons. To check this, go to your WordPress control panel and click on Sermons. You'll see a list of all your sermons. Find your most recent sermon at the top of the list and click the Edit link under the "Actions" column.

Next, on the Edit Sermon page, look at the bottom where it says "Attachments." What do you see there? Ideally you see "Choose an existing file" with the name of an .mp3 file that you uploaded to your site. If you don't see this, we need to fix it. Please reply and let me know what you find here in the "Attachments" section so I know what to tell you to do next. Also, could you explain what method you used to upload your .mp3 files to your site?

Thank you, Ben.
I have installed the audio player.

In my sermon attachements, it shows "choose existing file" and "no file found," however, when I added all my sermons, I told it to upload the file from the SermonAudio website. When I saw that wasn't working, I tried downloading the file to my harddrive from SermonAudio, then uploading it to my church website. Neither seemed to work. What do I need to do now?

Thanks!

This morning I tried all 3 options. I tried choosing a URL – it only displayed a globe on my sermons page.

I tried using embed code from SermonAudio. It displayed the SA graphic to link to the sermon.

I tried uploading the file. It didn't change the look at all. There's nothing there now, as you can see on the site.

Eager to know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.

There are a couple of settings I'd like you to check. In the WordPress control panel, click on Sermons, then Options.

First what do you have for "Upload folder"? Change it to:
/wp-content/uploads/sermons/
(The slashes at the beginning and the end are important.)

Next, look at "Public podcast feed." It should be exactly the same as the "Private podcast feed." If it is not, copy the Private podcast feed and paste it into the Public podcast feed.

After you change these settings, try uploading a sermon .mp3 file. Then post back here so we can take a look.

Thanks, Ben. I did that. When asked to choose a file to upload, I just did it using embed code, and here is the result.
http://96.0.148.145/blog/sermons/

I do have another question about something related. In my Sermons Options page, I have the following message:
"Warning: The maximum file size you can upload is only 2048k. Please change upload_max_filesize to at least 15M in php.ini.
Warning: The maximum file size you send through the browser is only 8192k. Please change post_max_size to at least 15M in php.ini.
Warning: The maximum time allowed for an upload script to run is only 60 seconds. Please change max_input_time to at least 600 in php.ini."

I cannot find a file on my web server called php.ini. How do I find this file?

Just to be clear, you haven't really uploaded a sermon to your web server. You have embedded a sermon that is existing on the SermonAudio site. And you aren't using the WordPress Audio Player plugin, either: you are using the SermonAudio embedded player.

Neither of these things are problems, if your site is working the way you want it, but I just wanted to make sure you understand what is going on.

About the "maximum file size" warning: The method for changing the maximum post size is different for every webhost; if you want to fix it, you need to contact your webhosting provider. However, if you are just going to use SermonAudio to store your sermons, then you don't need to do anything with this.

OK… Can I use the audio player plugin to play audio that is not uploaded, but instead is a URL? Not necessarily an embedded code, but the URL. I know that this is one of the options when uploading a file.

I would prefer not to have the SermonAudio icon there, but would rather have just a simple player button like this:

I'm not familiar with the SermonAudio service. Do you have a direct URL to the audio file that ends in ".mp3"? If so, you should be able to do this.

In the Attachments section, instead of "Enter Embed Code", choose "Enter an URL". Type in the URL of the audio file, and see if that works.

I am willing to bet SermonAudio doesn't allow that. I just pulled up a sermon from their site, and there is a direct download link, but when you try to use it you get a page asking for personal information. They are trying to discourage bandwidth leaches link BeeMP3 and others.

In that case, if you want to use the WP audio player (which is what Family Baptist Church is using), you'll need to upload the sermon .mp3 file to your website. Are you familiar with FTP? Upload the .mp3 file to your website in this folder:
/wp-content/uploads/sermons/

Then edit your sermon, and under the Attachments section pick "Choose an existing file" and pick the name of the file you uploaded.

If you have any questions about any of this, please let us know.

OK, I'll give that a try.
Thanks.
