I have set up almost 20 sermons in my WordPress site. But the most recent simply isn't being found by the audio player on the main page or on the individual sermon results. The sermon name and details all show up perfectly but when I click the audio player it doesn't work.

I have set the file permissions on the server to 644, which is what all the other sermons have.

I tried uploading manually twice. I also tried uploading via the WordPress Sermon Browser plugin but it didn't upload all the way. When I upload manually the sermon shows up. I click the Create Sermon and edit the details. So it shows up on the site but clicking the audio player, I get a File not found in the player almost immediately.

I went to the audio player plugin settings and saw that the location of the "Default audio folder location" was not found but when fixing the path to the wp-content/uploads/sermons/ folder was verified it didn't break or fix anything.

Opening the file in iTunes it plays fine.

Audio Player plugin: 2.0.4.1

Sermon Browser plugin: 0.45.4

What am I doing wrong? confused

What is the filename of the file?  Does it have any special characters in it?  I recommend renaming the file so it only has letters, numbers, dashes (-), and underscores (_) in it, and try again.

If you are still having trouble, post a link to your site so we can take a look.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Filename: 2011-12-11-the-christmas-controversy.mp3

This is the same naming convention I've used for all our audio files. All the others work and I added them to my site the same way I imported this one.

The pages where you can see it not working are here:

http://christpca.net/sermons/ Click the audio player for the first one at the top of the list "The Christmas Controversy"

http://christpca.net/sermons/?…..rmon_id=33

One thing to note: All the other sermons were originally imported to a testing site (at a different hosting acct). Because the site had been approved, I moved the site to the live remote hosting account and added this sermon to the site after I confirmed that the DNS was working, the WordPress site was working fine and I had updated my sites permalinks.

I did delete this file and tried importing it a couple of times. I hope you can help. Thanks.

Here is what I'd like you to try.  In the Advanced options for the Audio Player plugin (Settings, Audio Player, Advanced), UNCHECK the box for "Encode mp3 URLs."

After you've done this, post back here and let me know so I can take a look at your site again.

Thanks for your reply Ben,

I did it but nothing changed. It certainly was a good guess. What next?

Thanks for changing that setting.  It allows me to see where the Audio Player is pointing to.

For one of your sermons that is working, the audio player points here:

http://christpca.net/sermons/?…..istmas.mp3

If you visit that link, you'll be downloading the mp3 file.  Now lets try the one that is not working:

http://christpca.net/sermons/?…..oversy.mp3

When you try this one, you get redirected to a link that is on priscillachristian.com.  And that is the problem.

The audio player is actually going to priscillachristian.com and grabbing the mp3 file.  Of course, your new sermon file doesn't exist on your old server, so it can't find the file.  If you were to delete one of the working sermon files from priscillachristian.com, they would stop working, too.  Conversely, if you were to upload the latest sermon file to priscillachristian.com, I bet it would start working.

So the question is, why is your new website pointing to the files at the old location?

I'd like you to look at your Sermon Browser settings and tell me exactly what you have for the following options:

Upload folder
Public podcast feed
Private podcast feed
MP3 shortcode

Ben,

Thanks you much! It was the public podcast feed. I have another question but will put it in another post so as to keep questions in the forum orderly.
